Northern Neck specks 8/3

Still finding great shallow water fishing on the Northern Neck. Went out early Saturday morning and had lots of topwater bites while the light was low, but only a few hookups on that. Popping cork was the best rig again but I caught fish regular jigging too. Stayed out all day and the total was 34 trout, 3 schoolie stripers, one tiny red, a couple rays, and even got a flounder in my crab pot. All released.

Beautiful spec.

Do popping corks work for fluke? I'm heading up for Wildwood NJ next week, probably renting a crabbing/fishing skiff and taking some of my lighter tackle spinning gear to try for them.

Yeah I'm sure it would work in shallow water, but you're better off using more traditional fluke rigs IMO. Gulp on a jighead fished close to the bottom works as well as anything.
