7-3-19, "O"

Had to go back one more time so Bob and I met up at 6:25a and as soon as the sun came up, we could feel the warmth!

This is a beautiful place to fish!

The tide was still coming in and we went deep!

Just like Monday, at 7:15a, Bob took the skunk off...

...with a nice 2.2#er on a buzz bait!

Then nothing until 8:30a until this guy bit my blue Pit Boss!

Next up was a nice 17"er that was 2# even...on an old albino Bass Assassin!

We then worked our way out to the mouth and I got a 13#er on a Baby 1-!

I then caught a couple more, a dink and a 13"er on a fluke.

Bob got this one on a fluke!

Then, I threw into some slop. As soon as my lure hit the water, a bunch of fry scattered and a ballistic missile shot out from a submarine!! That snakehead went straight up, totally out of the water. What a sight! It looked like a 2 footer! Unfortunately, my lure was not a attached...

It was getting hot, we were running past the time we wanted to leave by and...I got hit at the grass edge!

It was time to go but we had to make some more casts....so I hooked up again!

While Bob was getting the net (with rod in hand), he gets hit and we both have a fish on!

Bob's was 14" and mine a half inch bigger.

We called it a day and we headed in to Brickmakers Cafe! It's a slow ride back as half of it is No Wake.

On the way to the ramp, we ran into lots of police on the water who were working to get ready for tomorrow's on the water shenanigans. As I passed the PW County boat (huge Donzi with double 300's), going @5 mph, he told me to slow down. I said I was doing 5 mph but he said the rule in VA is different.

-- “No wake” is defined as the slowest possible speed required to maintain steerage and headway. It shall be unlawful to operate any motorboat greater than no wake speed in areas marked with regulatory “No Wake” buoys.--

Crap...I don't remember this from my Safety Course (Coast Guard Auxiliary). They teach No Wake as < 6mph. Now we know...and no ticket.

Anyway, we had some bites that ended up fish less as they were jumping like smallies. I think we each missed 3-4 fish that shoulda, coulda stayed on.

At the end, I ended up with 8 and Bob had 3.

The Cafe was cool and the food was good. And yes, we ate before taking a pic...oh, well!

Another great day fishing with Ernie. It was a lot of fun fishing waters new to me. He smoked me today, but I was paying attention to where he was fishing. Can't wait till next time.

Great report!

Good to know about the no wake rule. I also thought it meant <6mph.

Gonna change the game fishing at the "O". I always do 6 mph for the 2.5 mile trek in the zone. Now, I'll have to be at 4mph or less....or risk a ticket.
