7-1-19, "O"

Kinda strange to post another LMB trip in July but...Bev and I were on the water before 7.

...and this time we headed straight to Plan B!

Tide was still coming in a bit and at 7:15a, I got the 1st fish, a nice 2.3#er on a Zoom fluke!

Bev did get a bite but he missed his 1st fish when he was trying to shake some grass off his line while a fish was swimming away with his lure.

We fished the mouth and the wind kicked up making it tough to feel the baits. It was now 11a and I decided to go back in the swamp.

It was slow goin' for sure with the slack tide. No bites until my 2nd fish  (9:15a), a 2.9#er on a KVD Caffeine Shad!

To this point, Bev was skunked and I was beginning to worry.

This guy was eying us....

At 11:15a, Bev set the hook hard and caught his 1st fish on a Case Salty Minnow (all his fish came off this lure)!

And his 2nd...

...which was 2#s even.

And his 3rd!

Now, he is gaining lots of confidence...

The boat was drifting into the weeds so Bev alerted me. As soon as I moved the boat, he tried to set the hook on #4 but was unable to.

A few minutes later, #4 came in!

So the smack talking stated. He catches no fish from 7a until 11:15a and now he gets 4 in about an hour!

We were ready to get out and get to the restaurant so we said..."last cast". About 4-5 casts  later, I hook into my 3rd, another 2#er!

OK, now we can go!

Towards the end of the trip, Bev told me that he had not been bass fishing since he was a little kid. I can say this, he listened to my advice and executed his hook sets perfectly. As well, he was an able net man.

While it took a bit to figure out what they wanted we managed to land 7 of them, all between 1.5 and 3 lbs. and 14 to 19 inches long. No dinks! Every fish and every bite came on weedless, weightless flukes!

A very beautiful day out on the water...and then, great burgers at Brickmakers Cafe. And yes, we talked about getting a pic of the food but as soon as it was placed in front of us, it was game on! No pics!

Bev was giddy on the way home...we had a blast!
