Bob and I met up at 7:30a and were on the water shortly thereafter.

John was putting in as well.

Since it was not too bad out (48df), I decided to make the long run to Dickerson Island. A little chilly but bearable (for me anyway).

It was not long before Bob scored and he had a bruiser on. But...the fish won! As he got close to the net, he bolted and snapped the rod...clean break too! We were disappointed but happy that it was a nice one.

A while later, I scored with a 15 incher on a gold spinner bait.

Then, for the next several hours, we got no bites!

Since Bob had to leave by 2ish, I decided to hit the rocks on the way back down river and he immediately scored with a feisty 13 incher (clown jerk bait)!

Then it was my turn. Bob told me where to throw and I got hit by an 18.25 incher (almost 3 pounds) on a sinking jerk bait.

BTW, that little red mark on my chin was my attempt to mimic Captain Mike when he had the weight smash into him. I was snagged, gave it a tug and the bait came flying into my chin...drawing a little blood!

A little later I got a 14 incher on the same bait.

All of my fish were on my new (to me) bait casters. One is a Light and the other an X-Light (it's a cannon).

And then Bob got another one....

After those 4, it quieted down until it was time to go.

River look great and the water is coming down! Water temps were 49 for most of the day.

Best line of the day is when Bob said, "these small smalies don't know they are little fish"!

Great job finding a few.  Not on fire yet.  Better water color today.  That big one looks super healthy!

Thanks for channeling me. Sorry it hurt to do so.

Nice looking water and great report.

You had a chance to make the story more interesting

Something like I was playing Jimmy Houston by kissing the fish and it bit me ....

Nice job on the 18 1/2

That's something I've never seen Ernie do. I was a little concerned when he told one to bend over and grab it's ankles, but that was just to get a better pic. :-)

Solution to the broken rod.... Ali Express. New rod with an extra tip will be here in 8 days. EZPZ, but still would have liked a chance to kiss that fish.  I know where she lives (give or take a mile or two)

Bob, those heartbreaks hurt, but keep us coming back to redeem ourselves.  BTW, I just ordered a rod through Ali Express as well.  We will have to compare...
