LKA 9.87 pound PIG....and no, not a striper

Got to the lake early and it was cold and very windy.  Started out in 35 degree + 20 MPH NNW wind.  Not fun cutting across the lake and decided to bass fish some protected rip rap next to deep water.  Threw a 5-7' running CB on 6 lb test.  After about 10 minutes I get slammed.......set the hook and the fish just about takes the rod away from me.  It heads to 20-25' of water like a freight train.  I cannot budge it.  It keeps taking line and is bull dogging me.  Pulls me out into the wind and it is all I can do to not get spooled.  After 20 minutes of slowing making up ground, it rolls on top 10 feet from the boat......it's a beast.  Finally get it into the net and I am literally shaking.  What a belly in that big striper net!

Thinking it is around 10 lbs, I head right to Highpoint Marina to measure and weigh it.  24.5" and 9.87 lbs big_smile

Nope, not a PB.  Have 4 over 10 lbs back in my NC days.  11-1 is my best in 1977.

Pigfest at LKA! Outstanding beast of a bass.

What a pig!!! Sounds like quite a fight. Good job reeling her in!

Ask me my LMB PB: 4.9lbs May 25th 2018 5:35PM on a popper with overcast clouds, 82 degrees air temp, 4mph steady SW wind.

Ask me what I had for dinner last night: *shrug* I can't remember.

That fish is channeling Sponge Bob Square Pants for sure. What a pig of a bass.
