Lake Mercer 11-12-2018

A friend and I headed to Lake Mercer on Monday morning, arriving at the Hoes Rd parking lot about 10am.  Carrying a 14.5 foot canoe, with rods and gear inside, up and over the dam was no easy task, but we got it done and we're on the water by 10:30.

Air temp was about 42 deg F, wind was variable with some sustained gusts of 5-10mph, water clarity was good.

We used a variety of baits through the day, I had the most success with a Ned rigged 4” worm on a 1/8 oz jig head.  The fish we landed were off the bank in 4-6' of water.

This guy was a bit deeper, and had some heavy black spots over his body (melanosis?).

Not pictured: a few dinks that bit on the Ned rig and a weightless Texas rigged Rage Tail Structure Bug.

I like Mercer and have heard stories of good LMB and catfish coming out of there.

Looks like a good time out on the water!

Together we'll fight the long defeat.
