Royal Lake 11-03-2018

I was able to spend a few hours at Royal Lake last weekend and actually managed to walk around the entire lake.  Conditions were cool (50 deg F) and windy with bright sun most of the time.  Water clarity was low due to the recent rain.

A weightless Texas rigged 4 inch paddle tail swimbait got the first two fish of the day from two coves on the East side of the lake that were protected from the wind a bit.

After a few misses I switched to a 4 inch Ned rigged worm on a 1/8 ounce jig head and landed the big one of the day adjacent to the boat ramp. A bit over a pound (estimate) which is a good size for Royal as it recovers from the work done there last year.

Ended the day with a little one using a weightless Texas rigged Rage Tail Structure Bug.

Overall a fun day getting into parts of the lake I hadn't fished before.  Although the garter snakes we're on the move in the woods, I guess looking for hibernation spots, and I don't really like snakes.
