Finally! After 30 days of not being able to fish the UP because of high water, Bob and I got to get out.
River was at 4.9' when we put in and it dropped .2 or .3' while we were out there.
John was already out there but we could barely see him until we got close...very foggy out!
Early on, Bob scored his 1st of 15 smallies...
Then we made our 1st move, albeit moving very slowly in the fog, and I got my skunk off.
We scored a couple more here and then we made another move where I got two decent ones including this 17.25incher!
Solid fish but not a piggie...
We proceeded to catch a bunch more...
...with Bob inching away from me and taking the lead.
I caught a kittie...
...and we both caught a long ear but mine was a baby.
Bob was lamenting that he wanted some major pullage. Other than my biggie, the biggest prior to that was 15".
He scored!
This one was 1/4" shorter than mine (which I proclaimed loudly) but it was a pig! Compared to mine, he looked like he should have been 19 or 20"!
He was happy!
On our last drift, I caught 2 more on a jigged up paddle tail swim bait with the bigger one just over 17"
But no where near the girth of Bob's.
We fished some more but we were getting tired and the fish gave us a break until Bob got smallie #15 for him, beating me by 5!
All in all, a great day out. Good to be back out there...let's hope it stays nice for a bit and the rains later in the week don't bring the river up too much.

Great report. So glad we finally got a break from the rain.

Should have mentioned what we caught our fish with....
WP
Tube
Underspin
Spinnerbait
Swim craw
Swim paddle tail
Ribbed paddle tail on a jig
UL spinner bait (white perch type)
Tried crank and jerk with no luck.
Just when we thought we had them figured out, we had to switch to something else.
