The river level was borderline, at just over 5 foot (at POR). I got to the ramp early and it was super foggy.
The ramp was muddy and the river was heavily stained to muddy. I fished the nearby island points with no hits. Used chatterbait, spinnerbaits, cranks, swim bait on a swim jig and tube. I decided to run upriver.
I tried another island point and nada. I ran up one more time to the tip of the next island. I started using a Bandit 100 in an avocado craw color. After a few casts, I got smacked after dragging the point. It was a 15.25" that chomped the entire crankbait and put up a decent fight in the fast current.
I caught one more dink on that crank, then I switched to a Bandit 200 crank in Rootbeer color and after letting the current take the crank down toward an eddy, I started cranking and got slammed by a strong fish. After a strong fight, I was able to net this nice 19.5" brute.
I tried for a little bit more and floated downstream after the bite died. All 3 fish were caught within a 35 minute period. I did not get any more bites and the muddy water and hot sun made me decide to get off early. I was off the water by 11:00am.
