Late-5-25-2018-Pavilion Sunfish

I like to spend at least one day a year picking on panfish and trying to catch 30+ fish.  This was supposed to be that day, but things didn't work out as hoped.  The best I could do was go to Pavilion Lake Friday evening last week and see if I could use up the mealworms I bought earlier in the day.  I rigged up the 12 ft. crappie rod and started dunking worms off the pier.

I didn't get the numbers, but what I caught was made up for in size.  I caught two large bluegills, a good sized black crappie and a new personal best of any sunfish, a monstrous 1 lbs. pumpkinseed.  After researching the latter online, I wish I had a scale and quicker camera skills.

The giant pumpkinseed flopped back into the water while I was getting my camera out, but I have one of the 'gills and the crappie here:

Very nice. Old school technique.
You needed a only nice kicker bass for a trifecta type day
