5-22-18, Cedar

Caught a couple of bass (near a pound) and many a blue gill, red ear and warmouth (more than a dozen). All on a 4wt. They are getting active. Caught a couple on top water as well.

Lake is a bit dirty but not too bad.

No pics as I left the phone in the house. Such a long way to go to get it....    tongue

Make sure you have your license on Monday and life vest

Every Memorial day I get stopped by DNR - cost me $90 once for not wearing the vest

Never an issue for me.....

Because they know you don't like to wear it....you are a target for them!

I used to do a morning "float" out of Algonkian every Memorial Day but increased boat traffic kinda took the fun out of it. I can't remember the last time I took a boat out on Memorial Day weekend....too many loonies out as I mentioned before. Takes the fun out of it.

My Cuz & I were in kayaks floating down from Edwards and we got nailed.  80dF outside & water was at 2'.  DNR saw us coming and left the  yo yo brigade alone - they knew we'd pay our tickets

Is wearing a life-vest required in VA?

Re: 5-22-18, Cedar

The only requirement for VA is that you must always have a life jacket on board for every crew member. Same goes for MD. The life jacket (wearing) requirement was up on May 15 for the UP.  If you use inflatable ones, you must wear them the whole time.

In Md, kids under 13 must always have a life jacket on when vessel is moving. In VA, the age is 12.

And don't mistake launching on the Virginia side of the Potomac by following VA regs, because the water's patrolled by MD

Cost me $90 to find that out

Jamie and I fished Cedar this morning and the fishies wore us out. We were both using 4wts.

Re: 5-22-18, Cedar

Nothing big but all fat...they are just starting to hit top water.

The warmouth were very fat...looks like they are getting ready getting ready to spawn. BG's will follow, many hand sized ones. No crappie. Bass (males) guarding the fry would just shoo the fly away.

Lots of fry guarding going on.....
