Re: Speedy Recovery, Ernie!

Easy goes it, Ernie . . . and soon you'll be feeling great relief.

Here's a fishing chuckle I hope brings a grin:

Four guys have been going on the same fishing trip for many years. Two days before the group is to leave, Sam's wife puts her foot down and tells him he isn't going. Sam's fishing mates are very upset that he can't go, but what can they do?
Two days later, the three get to the camping site to find Sam sitting there with a tent set up, firewood gathered, and dinner cooking on the fire, and having a cold beer.
"Wow Sam, how long you been here, and how did you talk your missus into letting you go?"
"Well, I've been here since last night. Yesterday evening, I was sitting in my living room chair and my wife came up behind me and put her hands over my eyes and asked, 'guess who?'" I pulled her hands off, and there she was, wearing a sheer nightie. She took my hand and pulled me into our bedroom. The room had candles and rose petals all over. Well, she's been reading that book, ‘50 Shades of Gray’. On the bed, she had handcuffs and ropes! She told me to tie her up and cuff her to the bed, so I did. And then she said, ‘Do whatever you want.’
“So, here I am!”

Re: Speedy Recovery, Ernie!

That story above is nothing but trouble!

They sent me home with a hot nurse, Debbie is her name. She has been really helpful as I struggle for my independence. And all I am taking is Tylenol which is a major hurdle.

Re: Speedy Recovery, Ernie!

And they want no BLTs  from me, for a good while.

Bending
Lifting
Twisting

I do have some Silcott Farms bacon that will make for some great BLTs.....as soon as things get regular again.

Happy Birthady Paul!!

Belated thanks Ernie, I'm just getting caught up. I traveled on my B'Day and worked on Thursday but was off on Friday and I'm up in NY educating a few Smallmouth Bass.

But you gotta go there to get fixed so you can get better....

Doing great, way ahead of expectations....thanks for asking. I am healing well.

Went to see doc yesterday (post op visit) and he cleared me to drive, extended my lift capacity to 25lbs (up from 5 lbs) and will allow me to start  using an indoor exercise bike on April 27. I may get to use my inside bike (regular bike) after I see him next on May 17. And hopefully, I can use my outside bike a couple of weeks after that.

My doc had challenged me to walk a mile by 14 days after the operation. I got there in 10. Now, on every walk, I go a little further.

One of the coolest things that happened yesterday was visiting the nurses and PT staff on the floor I was at. They were thrilled and surprised to see me. It was a cool moment! But they were the ones who helped me get from zero to wherever I was when I left the hospital last Wednesday (4/11).

I still can't do any form of exercise but walking. The bone graft takes a long time (close to a year) to heal and you don't want to mess with that with any unnecessary BLTs.

Functionally, I am probably at 80% or so, getting closer to 100% every day.

Getting out to fish is getting close.....
