George took the day off and we hit our spot on the Lower Potomac. One other boat on the water. Little showers off and on. We fished from about 7:20am until almost 3:00pm. Fish were not easy to find. I caught my first LM to get the skunk out, but nothing special. George struck next and WOW, what a fight! The fish almost broke his ML rod more than once as it fought and surged. After about a 5 minute fight, we saw this...
It sure got George's blood pumping! We estimated about 25 pounds and think it was a blue cat?
The action slowed down for a while as the tide was going out. We moved around, but could not get anything to bite. Finally, we got some bites as the tide turned near an inflow. I managed 4 more LM, including this nice chunk.
George caught one more fish, and after a nice little fight, turned out to be some sort of a shad or sucker? He hooked it on the outside of the mouth and it bled a bit.
Overall a decent day and always nice to get out on the water!
Happy Birthday, George!
