11-25-17, Chesapeake Bay

Today, I had the pleasure of taking 4 members of the BRHS Fishing Club down to Breezy Point to fish with Capt. Dale of Fishamajig Charters.

The crew: Saman, Anthony, Niles & Hayden. None of them had ever jigged up a striper and 3 of them had never even caught a striper before.

As a matter of fact, Saman had just caught his 1st bass only a week before when Anthony put him on it.

As we left the creek, it became evident that the forecast was a little off as the wind was up (made things chilly) and the waves (2+ footers) were most annoying!

We got to our spot and everyone got their skunk off. Hayden caught the 1st fish!

We caught some more of these but we wanted to make sure the crew had their sea legs and jigging game on!

Then, the fish got bigger!

And everyone  was having a grand time!

Niles even caught a hickory shad!

The battle was on for big fish of the day!

We then made a move and things started to get rougher....3' seas!

Once we got to our target, we tried making some casts at structure.

But it was near impossible so we had to get away from there and try to find some footballs....which we did! It went from 0 to 100 in no time, fast and furious.

We were throwing back many keepers!

Now, it was time to head in!

A VERY satisfied crew....thanks to Capt. Dale for making it happen!

Ernie,
I think you've made all of those guys fishermen for life. They will always remember their first striper trip. Congratulations for making it happen.

I forgot to mention that the biggest fish was close to 30", a few at 27" & 28" and many in the mid 20's.

These guys did great! As you can see in some of the pics, it was a little "sporty" out there at times!

Those are some real quality fish, WTG! Was the captain mostly watching his electronics for fish, or were they bunched up in specific spots?

All of the above.....sometimes they were under sitting birds or just out in the open. Of course, diving birds were the real deal, especially the gannets. However, it was not fast and furious all of the time. We saw fish flashing and could not get them to bite sometimes.....
