Never forget!
Bob and I tired some new water on the yaks; West River, Galesville MD.
The access is decent but it takes some work especially with the heavy Hobies.
Once we got out....
...we started across the river. Bob got hammered by something big as he trolled on the way over. Never saw it as the fish headed for the pilings and broke him off. Not a bad way to get the juices flowing.
Once there, we got some bites and caught some fish but (Bob got an 11") but we decided to make a move back across and over the the river. BTW, I calculated that we peddled close to 3 miles today, if not more. Some of it was in open water with some nice nE wind bringing in some rollers. The Hobies took it well!
We did get into some fish but it would go cold after 5-6 catches.
I did some sightseeing while on the way over to another spot.
This was the spot...looked great!
But I caught ZIPPO while over there.
So back to the best hole where I caught my biggest....
...and Bob got one that put another 1/4" to his SRRKC WP Tourney leading numbers.
The fishing was sporadic but we would catch them in spurts.
Nice day to be out....

Do you guys ever go to the Wye for perch? There are some big ones in there that I have caught on BKDs by accident...
Now...you tell me! I have a friend who fly fishes for them at the Wye. Might be our next destination!

Oh I've heard good things about the Wye as well. Looking forward to that report

In the first fish pic the 11 on the measuring board looked like a 14 and I just about spit my coffee out. Still really nice perch. WTG!

I'd go back there again this week if the take out wasn't such a pita. That's a lot of effort to fish under 1 productive dock. Did someone say Wye? Ernie, Wye not? I'll pay the bridge toll for the boat.

There is a launch called Bennett Landing I believe and I caught nice fish right there at the dock to the right, along both sides of the channel edges heading down towards the island, and somewhere on the right about half way out to the right. There is a bar or a turn that the bottom comes up and it was a good edge. It's been years but I took Mustafa there one year when he was just starting to kayak as it was nice and protected from the wind. Good luck!
