It happened lifting heavy luggage down stairs for guests at work. Surgery scheduled for 9/29/17. Six weeks in a sling and 6 months full recovery with physical therapy twice a week. Doc said I can fish in the meantime, but no rowing. I am itching to get out!

Sorry to hear that....
Spider crawls...you will learn to hate them but a necessary evil!
We need some rain or you WILL be rowing if you go out!

Looks like my surgery is a couples days before yours to fuse 3 vertebra in my neck due to degeneration and pinching nerves that radiate all the way down my left arm.

Natural degeneration or from a cause?

Sorry to hear, Curly. Hang in. We will be back with a vengeance in the Spring, hopefully.

Many times arthritis can be caused by traumatic forces. In my case, I had a car accident where I banged my left knee really hard on a metal dashboard (and 39 stitches). Over the years, the cartilage degenerated to the point I had to get that knee replaced at 50 years of age...way too early. Now it's starting to wear out.
What's the rehab on the fusion Curly?
I am familiar with shoulder rehab because Debbie had hers done a few years back.
The good thing is that once you have the surgery, every day you get better and closer to fishing again!

Good luck to both of you
Gimme a shout if you want to get out John - between my bad back & your bad shoulder we should be able to lip fish

Hey.... I'll throw my hat into the surgery ring!
4/28 Meniscectomy
6/12 Patellar Tendon ACL Reconstruction - still in therapy and will be for another three months or so
7/20 AC Joint Resection (Shoulder)
Looking down the barrel of a mosaicplasty for my right knee as well... only time will tell.
Getting older sucks.

Kevin,
You got me beat. All in a short period of time is rough! I've had other surgeries, but years apart.
Good luck!

Ha! You're a young buck.....
Now you have to look forward to 2 knee replacements after you get all the scoping done.
I can help you with that!

Had two fused in my neck about 30 years ago. Neck doesn't bother me much at all and they were able to "hide the scars in your wrinkles." On the other hand, every time the barometer gets low my hip (bone donor site) hurts like mad. As I recall, recovery was more about the hip than the neck although I wore a neck brace for a while. No sweat, Curly.

3 vertebrae fused yesterday morning and home this morning. A little post-op soreness, but no more radiating pain going down the length of my left arm! Holding off on fishing for a few days.....if I can

Curly,
Glad to hear that the surgery went well. Given how well you did on the water before the surgery, I can only guess that the fish are sorry to hear you are headed back to 100%.

C-6 issues are tough.
I have them as well.
Try throwing a trowel all day on that arm.
Good to know I'm not alone
