George and I were on the water by 6:15a or so and up the river we went.....to be met by a chill in the air and a few bizillion bugs!

We were doing 28mph so I didn't have time to take a good picture but we were getting our protein for the morning as we got pelted with teeny bugs (I had them in my hair as well)!

Our initial plan was to run to White's Ferry and beyond but just short of it, we encountered a ledge that I was a little leery of jumping. POR was at 1.5' which is pretty low so we decided to start just above Harrison Island. Still, the water was shallow and we had to navigate over a few boulders. Having that plastic bottom makes a huge difference. Once out of trouble, we starting drifting (@1mph).

1st fish hit a hand painted jerk bait!

The next fish came on a Havoc Subwoofer on 1/8oz jig head.

Then...we just started catching...one after the other!

These fish were healthy and feisty!

We drifted some more but things slowed down.

I almost ran back upriver but we really wanted to be done by lunchtime so we kept drifting and moving down.

We ate some sammies and were very satisfied with our day so were going to call it a day since we had already caught 25-30 smallies. Only 2-3 were small, the rest were from 13-17 inches.

So I said, "just  a few more casts" and immediately got slammed by this nice one.

And then, I got slammed again, as did George. He landed his and I lost mine. I also lost another one as George was getting the net ready. The fish smacked the boat and poof! He was gone.

We giggled like kids out there today. As a matter of fact, I think we scared off some other fishermen that were nearby.

The bite was really good early and we got that 4 fish flurry at the end.

Most of my fish were caught on the jerk bait, with the copper colored tube coming in 2nd. I caught 1-2 with a square bill and the one with the swimbait.

I think George caught his with a swim bait but he can tell you more when he weighs in.

After my smallie skunk on the 18th, this was a great day for sure!

BTW, with the water so low, the grass is very prominent.

The ramp was not a madhouse and we did see quite a few other boats out but we always fished alone.

Great job, guys!  Glad to see they are still chomping!  I may not be able to fish much.  I will wait for doctor confirmation before I explain.

Ernie, luv the first pix.  Dang bugs were like getting pelted with a BB gun.

I'm always honored to net your fish and be your photographer.  Thx again for the ride

I caught them on swimbaits, tubes, and a grub.

I think we scared off some other fishermen that were nearby.

Yeah, the guide who was getting skunked while we hooted & hollered when you got like 1/2 dozen back to back

DrX - shoulder surgery can be great or it can sux royally.  Good luck
