8-17-17, Chesapeake Beach

Bob and I took the Hobies out in our search for big white perch.

Nice morning out, a bit humid with a slight SSE wind. I hate anything with an "E" on it!

It started off OK....not a huge bite but we were picking them off here and there.

This one was@ 10"! One of several of that size.

Once the tide stared coming in the bite virtually shut down. It was hard and long just to catch 15 perch!

So I played with my buddies a bit....

Bob caught a few in the 11 inch range but they were not what he needed to advance in the tourney. I certainly could have used a couple of those but I did not score either.

Off the water by noon....

Heck yes! One never knows what to expect. I have detected less shallow water perchies over the last few years but they are still a blast to catch on UL tackle.

I have a friend who just moved out to that area, do you ever troll for stripers on the kayaks? He's interested in doing that one day.

I worked there in the summer of 1974 and 1975 as a mate and no buildings were around. No condos nutin. Just the old amusement park pier and even the honeysuckle run tracks were still in place. Abners was a true crab house with all seats outside in a screened porch.  No AC.

I go back now and hardly recognize the place.

Thanks for the pics from the water.

Wouldn't have been very special.... eating a ham sandwich behind the steering wheel. It was a good sandwich!

It was so slow for me that I actually made 2 passes while trolling but that's not my game.

Bob and I chase white perch in the shallows using 1/8 oz spinner baits. We're obsessed!
