Cedar. 10-22-08

Matt and I fished today from 2 30 to 3 30 at Cedar.  We did not have a very good day, so your probably wondering why I posted.  WE TRIED NEW BAITS!!  I caught  fish on a 1/4oz black spinnerbait with silver blades, with a fluorescent yellow skirt also added in addition to the black skirt, and a black crawfish trailer, and caught the fish, fishing it like a pig and jig.  Caught the other fish on a wacky worm that I fished for 5 minutes before Matt arrived.  Matt caught his fish on a a black spinnerbait with a blue and black crawfish trailer, fishing with a constant slow retrieve.  We also tried other things(white spinnerbait, pig and jig, and carolina rigged lizard).  I thought I would let the people who wanted us to try new baits know that we did.  List any other baits that you want us to try and we will try it in the next few weeks to come.

Try a shaky head worm. It is basically a weighted jig-head with a hook and worm holder. You slide the head of the worm onto the worm holder and then run the body of the worm through the bended portion of the hook so the tip comes out the other side. Then, slightly embed the hook so it is weedless. You cast it out and just offer very light twitches. This is a great bait for slow, cold conditions.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

Or.... a bullet weight and a 2/0 hook with the worm/lizzard hooked Texas style......

Time to go fishin' again!

Re: Cedar. 10-22-08

I fished the jerk bait on Sunday for a half hour and a fluke for a half hour, and did not catch anything.  Next time I am going to ry both of those again for a while and the lizard....I still need to pick up a shaky head worm.
