7-18-17, UP

Bob and I met up at 5:30a and by 5:45a, we were on the water.

Beautiful morning!

Bob took the skunk off early...

...he caught a few more then I obliged.

In retrospect, we should have floated the 1st place some more but I got ansty. We were in deeper water.

The fog rolled in but that shut the fish down for some reason!

We made a move to the chute and Bob proceeded to catch 3 LMB, a few smallies and a BG!

I wanted to run up to the ledge above Edward's Ferry but it was getting hot so we decided to float back and fluke it out.

We caught a few...lost many more!

Best fish today was 13.5" but I caught a FATTIE on a Baby Spook that gave me tussle.

As it happens often, Bob caught the most.

We were toast by noon but slugged it out until 1. At least we were rewarded with a nice burger at BRG.

Good outing and you owed Bob!  Next time run upriver and try that jet out!  Some swift water below White's and lots of deep water above.

That jet is amazing. We were on plane in about 3" of water. I sat there in disbelief watching the gravel bottom passing by. Another fun trip with Ernie, even in the heat.

Looks like a similar day I had up river a bit - I'm surprised Bob was fishing an inline w/ a treble.  Where I was on Sat, to much grass in the water.

BRG's awesome treat.  Ate there the other day but I will warn you, when you say rare, they mean raw.

He was using a slash bait and some other weird looking crank type....with trebles. He may have cussed a few times after landing the fish....

My top water hit and catch was with single hooks.

That weird looking crank type was a Smithwick Buck and Bawl Jr. It's somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 years old. It should probably be retired before it gets away, but it catches fish.
