July 9th Double Report

Much like yesterday's trip we found the fish not wanting what we had to offer. The tide was coming in good and we scored a nice one on the pad edge. One is luck two is a possible pattern. After that nice LGMouth we went on a long dry spell with a few pushes away from the baits. At golden hour we pushed back deep into the pads but did not see much moving around. Tide dropped out early so abandoned that idea for main creek. At dark we found them and landed several and lost even more. Hind sight would have had me change lures and I am sure the big moon feed was gonna last till midnight. But you just can not fish all night sometimes.

I set the camera for a long exposure but had a little shake in this picture.. but you get idea.

Lou and George frothed the water to no avail.   Low tide at launch,  George gets a nice bass on a popper in the first few casts of the afternoon.

Nada after that.  Toward the end we all moved to a section where the PP have been cooperative at high tide.
ONE shot...premature hookset...

The full moon sure was purty but, sure didn't help.  Lou and George were good company and I'll see'm again in August!

Nice reports! Tripod is the way to go for long exposure but in a pinch you can set the camera down somewhere stationary. In both cases using a timer to take the picture will help reduce shutter shock from when you press the shutter button. You get some cool shots of moving water with long exposure too.

Together we'll fight the long defeat.

Re: July 9th Double Report

There's a whole lot more to these trips....

We start with BBQ!

Then we chat about what we are going to do....

We launched the sleds to go deep into Mattwoman territory.

Capt. Mike had a couple of Cuban cigars for us to rate!

They were smooth....I can't remember smoking one down to where I could barely hold it. Quality stogies!

Beautiful place for sure!

I caught 3 nice ones....had two on that spit the hook and had another blowup that I missed. I also hit a snakehead on the head but he did not want to eat.

When we came in, we ran into Paul Naj at the ramp as he was taking his yak out.

All in all, a good evening on the water.

Time to go fishin' again!

Re: July 9th Double Report

It was a beautiful evening on the water. The fish were fickle. I would catch two pretty close together on the same bait and as soon as I thought a pattern might be emerging they'd shut down. I ended up with 5 total between swim baits and senkos and had several blow ups on the frog, including a couple of big blow ups, but couldn't hook one on top water.

That place can be frustrating and change quickly for the good and the bad. I guess it's one of the reasons I like it so much.

Hey Dave, sorry I got you confused with the other guy in the hat. That'll never happen again. ;-)
