6-28-17, UP

As we were loading up the boat with gear and filling the cooler with drinks, I see this!

Really???

Bill asked me if I believed in that folklore and I told him to wait until we were done to answer that.

It was a bit chilly (55) when we put in around 6:30a....

You saw the fog in the pic above but there was also a HUGE white miller hatch going on. They were thick! We saw and heard some slurping going on.

Bill took the skunk off fairly quickly.

But our drift was really not that productive....we caught maybe 4-5 fish (me only 1 although I hooked a few that came unbuttoned).

I made him eat his banana so I could get on some fish!

We then made a move to the chute and Bill got 4 smallies, Ernie zero.

Then we went upriver a bit and fished a bunch of rocks and only landed one....a small LMB (more pics later after Bill sends them to me).

So back down we went and picked off a fish here and there but in my opinion, it was really slow. I did get hooked up to something of size but it immediately broke me off at a rock. I told Bill it was a 25 inch fish for sure!

The water was still a bit stained which surprised me.

Water temps were in the low to mid 70's. Air temp was perfect and we got a breeze once in a while.

Fish were caught with top water (Bill) tubes, grubs, swim senkos, jig/pig and crankbaits (Bill).

We made one final move down to the end of the last island a picked up a couple.

Everywhere we fished, we caught fish...just not many. Still, a most pleasant day to be out on the water finished off by a BRG Burger!

Boat now goes to shop for a few minor touch ups, and to get a second FF installed. Not sure if I will be hitting the UP anymore for a bit (drxfish will let us know if he keeps hammering them), it's white perch time!
