I think I heard John call today...epic! Man, he had a great day.
We didn't get on the water until the sun was already up and we headed right for the rip rap at Boling.
We saw some mark so we threw our best topwater at 'em but got no love. So we switched to 1oz spoons in 35' of water. I hooked up 1st and John's eyes came out of his head as my rod was doubled over. But just like that...gone! And it happened again! But we persevered and I caught 1 blue cat and 1 channel cat and John caught 1 blue cat. His 1st time jigging a spoon like this.
We ran into Curly as he was hunting for stripers.....we had not seen any. So I asked John if he had ever fished the poop plant. He had not so we headed there. On his 3rd cast with a spinnerbait, a nice LMB!
And then a few more (5 in total here)!!
I got this nice chunk on a chatterbait!
Then he proceeds to eat this!
We then went up to the spillway in the WC but the current was roaring....was hard to hold the boat so we drifted out and fished around there for a bit with nothing to show.
We decided to start heading out but we stoped at the statute and that's when the show started...the Drxfish Show!
1st he nails a couple of small bass and then this smallie pig!
Then this 4.2lb LMB!
Then this 4.1lb LMB!
Then this almost keeper (1/2" short) striper!
We both caught a few more little one (including John getting another smallie) and called it a day.
John caught 9-10 LMB, 2 smallies, a stiper and a blue cat. It does not get much better than this and as Bill Skiver says, "putting them on fish is just as good as catching them yourself"!
John was giggling on the way home.....

Ernie was the perfect host for a perfect day! How do I repay him? I lose his truck keys along with my wind breaker on the way back to the ramp! It really was a blast, Ernie. The weather was so nice. We outfished the guys with the expensive bass boats at the power plant. We caught fish on every rod we brought.
I ended up catching most of mine on crankbaits (3 on a DT Thug and all the big ones on a Wiggle Wart). I just bought the Wiggle Wart from Ernie about a month ago. I just changed out the hooks. We were working a weedline on the way back. The Smallie hit and shot out of the water like a rocket! A couple casts later, I caught the first big LM. Then another. Then the striper! I caught about 9 fish on that bait on the way out of the channel between 1:15pm and 3:00pm with bluebird skies. It had a bright yellow-chartreuse bill and red-orange on the belly, mimicking the yellow perch in that area.
Baits that worked, flutter spoon, cranks, chatter-baits, spinner baits, rattle traps, wacky-worm and twitch bait.
Here's another picture of my biggest bass in the net with the Wiggle Wart.

Just realized that we have a full (huge) moon. Fish are not supposed to eat in the daytime of a full moon, especially with blue bird skies. But they met their match today!
