Today was the most amazing day of perch fishing we've ever experienced!
As we exited the jetties, we threw some junk at the rocks and the point and got zippo!
The bay was totally flat calm with zero wind! We both commented that we had never seen the bay so calm for such a long period of time.
Then....as we were motoring to the 1st stop, Mo declares that he saw a shark! At 1st, I though a ray but then.....
We spent almost an hour playing with these guys....some pups in the mix as well!
Mo took a video that shows them swimming right under the boat...it was incredible! I just need to figure out how to get it on the Forum.
We both said we could go home and be satisfied but we decided to get some perch.
We did manage a couple at our 1st stop including some stripers....
Mo was throwing a new lure to him, a small casting/jigging spoon with a dressed hook. He liked it! Even though the tide was on the way out it was a slooooow tide. Very little movement and the water was very clear.
More scenery....pelicans!
We even saw about a dozen blue herons flying in V formation...never seen that before. Had only seen 2 or 3 in a pack before.
We left and tried 2 or 3 more places and we were baffled. Where are the perch? We even tried deeper to no avail so we started on our way back......
Then we saw a guy hitting one of our areas with blood worms. He was picking few here and there so we started throwing our arsenal at them and they turned on for 2+ hours of constant catching! Many doubles!
These were all quality fish...no dinks. Many over 10"" and we may have hit 12 on one or two. No time to measure as the fishing was that constant!
Then....someone turned off the light switch so we went to the Wagon Wheel where I had an interesting (but really good) Cuban sandwich. Mo had the chili which is top notch.
No traffic on the way back and two guys fully satisfied with an incredible fishing (and looking) day!!

Nice catching!! I like that shot of the lone dolphin and open water; epic! As for the video perhaps just upload to youtube and either link or possibly embed the video.

Let me translate, "hurry up and get it done so we can see!!!"
How did those double tail boomerang looking spinners work out? Have you noticed more action with those?

Initially, I had it with a short arm wire. No good. I switched to a Woody spinner that had lost its blade and I caught a few fish but I felt the blade was too big for 1/8oz. I did have smaller one in the box but did not use it. I suspect the smaller one will be better.
But we caught most of the fish with the spoons.

And we know that....Mo said, "if we were just 30 minutes earlier or later, we would have missed it". Incredible!

They were hard to find but when we did...it was 2 hours of constant catching. Mo was throwing back anything under 10"! Let's hope the weather (wind) cooperates, if not, I know where many perch reside in the Severn.

Ernie I think it is time to go back to the eye doctor. Those are brown pelicans flying in a vee.
I hear many people get them mixed up with penguins.
