Re: Upper potomac recommendations

Are you doing a point to point float or putting in and out at the same place/

If the latter, go to Lander and paddle up river. Many places for smallies to hide up there. You just gotta find them!

Re: Upper potomac recommendations

The river is running very high and fast at Point of Rocks . . . be sure to check the gauge before you head out:
http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?01638500

Shows it's running a 6.62 ft - - normal level is around 2 ft - - and the flow is an extreme 24,200 cfs.  It would be more like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride right now!

Yes, hopefully they were found alive. Were they not wearing life jackets I wonder?

Sad story indeed.   I hope people learn from this.  Anything can happen out there and a PFD may be the one that saves your life!!!

Re: Upper potomac recommendations

How is the UP when the POR gauge is at 3-3.5 ?  Tomorrow it looks like it will be around 10000CFM compared to the 2.25 5000 CFM I fished last week.

Re: Upper potomac recommendations

Should be pushy.  Could be stained.  Delayed from last heavy rain.  Tough for up there in a small or paddle driven craft.
