Santa Catalina Island
Hi All,
Went out to Santa Catalina Island...fly fishing for Yellowtail. Weather was nice in the morning, but turned to crap in the afternoon. I knew it is early in the season to get Yellowtail near the surface, but gave it a try anyway.
After way too much effort...got this little guy on a squid fly:
After the weather turned to crap, we put away the fly gear and dragged out the heavy stuff. Switched to live squid and went deep with it...and bingo:
Got some nice pics of the island before the weather turned:
No sharks this time....try again in late July when the water has warmed up.
Next up: Return to the Olympic Peninsula: Flying and Fishing.
