6-1-16, UP

Got a text yesterday from Bill Pearle wanting to know if I wanted to do some smallie fishing on his Rhino jet this morning. After moving a few things around, I said  yes and we met up early at the ramp (I only had a few hours to fish).

Bill is a great fisherman (and retired) but he also has the boat that I want (or something close),

Watching him work that stick steer at the center console gave me lots of hope and ideas. The boat is wide, stable, comfortable, reminds me of mine, functional and easy to fish from....

Bill took the skunk off 1st and I followed suite a bit later...

I usually fish this stuff from a yak....

....sure is a lot more comfortable and easier to fish in a jet!

We caught many of these cookie cutter fish (13-14")....

....and a few that were just a big bigger but no monsters.

But they pulled hard in the current.

Most fish were caught in eddies but I had a couple on the push water which was fun. And...most of mine were caught on a paddled swim bait on one of George's weighted swim bait hooks. And....a couple on one of his jigs!

Great morning on the river!
