The next meeting of the Potomac River Smallmouth Club (PRSC) is on Wednesday, September 24, starting at 7:30 PM at the Vienna Fire Station on Center Street in Vienna VA.
The special guest speaker is none other than Al Lindner!
During a long career spanning the most revolutionary years in sportfishing history, Al Lindner ranks among the most renowned leaders in the fishing industry. He continues to fish avidly for all freshwater fish, averaging about 180 days a year on the water, and is hailed as one of the world’s best all-around anglers.
As the host of Lindner’s Angling Edge and Fishing Edge television series, Al remains immensely popular as one of the best-recognized angling authorities in North America. Al, however, has always worn many hats, and even his most avid fans may not realize the extent of his past and present involvement with all aspects of the fishing business. Other than finding new and better ways to catch fish, that is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of the PRSC members won a contest for the rights to have Al come in to town and talk to the club members. How cool is that?? clapping.gif
So, if you are a club member, you get to come to the meeting early but you MUST let me know if you are coming so we can get an accurate head count!! Here is the schedule:
5:00 PM to 6:30 PM- "social hour", pictures, autographs, glad-handing etc. with PRSC members.
6:30 PM to 7:30 PM- PRSC members dinner with Al
7:30 PM- Lindner speaks until 9:45 PM (open to the public)
If you want to become a PRSC member, there is a special price of $45 for the balance of this year plus next year. Normal membership is $35 a year. For membership, call the PRSC President, John Lipetz , at 703-609-8083.
See you at the Fire Hall!

What separate the average from the good and the good from the great.
Average vs. Good
-understanding the basic nature of the fish you are fishing for
-prefered temps
-spawn time
-forage they like
-Attitude is Key
-there is always something to be caught. The fish are never not biting! You have just go to change up presentation, size, color, etc.
Good vs. Greats
-confidence
-you have got to get confidence with certain baits and styles through your own experience
-all the fish on the lake are doing different things at different times and you have to be confident in a bait to be able to catch something
-you got to try different stuff to be able to catch fish
-Passion
-passion will drive you to look for that one more bite
Average to good is a small step, but good to great is a leap
Al Linder's favorite baits:
-skitter prop
-inline spinner
-tube and a grub
-jerkbaits 4"
-senkos 4" - 5"
-fluke
-marabou hair jigs (1/16-1/8, but 3/32 in current and wind, no trailer, brown/black or white)
-DT-16
Al Linder's Favorite Smallmouth Adventure:
Lake of the Woods, MN
Few Points He Made:
-something a little bit different always helps. You got to change baits and find the new hot bait! Yesterday's bait isn't always going to work
-change color
-change size
-change action
-change presentation
Al Linder Quotes:
-Be on the Fish to Catch Fish
-Presentation rather than Location
-KNOW THE FISH
-It is never that the fish are not biting
-You cannot just listen to one persons advice
-Fish Harder, Fish Smarter, Fish Less
-Knowledge is key
-ALWAYS TRY!
This is some of the stuff that I got out of it. It was a really awesome experience!
