Halloween Buck

The Rut has started. This guy came busting out of the woods chasing a doe. Managed to stop him about 125 yards out. 50cal dropped him in his tracks

Lots of other deer moving around. It was a great day to relax in nature

Re: Halloween Buck

Nice buck!

They are starting to go nuts! I haven't made it out in the woods this year (lost my hunting spot to development - shocker), but I have been seeing them running down the side of RT 7 and 15 the last three days. I have one buck that has decided all the trees in my backyard are his to mark, despite me putting protection around them. I need to pull my trail camera and see if I got him on there yet.

Halloween was always my favorite time to hit woods. The leaves are changing, the weather has cooled off, the bucks are moving, scraping, rubbing etc.

Re: Halloween Buck

Nice shot!  That's a very accurate shot for blackpowder at that distance.  Looks like you cleared the tenderloins!  I had to stop in traffic this morning while trying to get to work for a doe with a buck on it's tail.  Biggest buck I've ever seen here in Alexandria right next to 395 and seminary!  Looked to be a long 8 point with wide spread.
