Got to the cabin on the lake Friday evening. Ellen and I were supposed to go out with Jim Hemby this morning, but he called last night to say the stripers have been shut down and hiding for 3 days. We decided they we will try on Monday if things look better. I went out this morning in by boat anyway. Just like he said.....no schools of fish were marked for 3 hours. I did mark a few scattered fish up by Dillard's Bridge and was able to get one bite.....this 19.75" "red-eye" throwback. Could not get it to measure a legal 20" .
Supposed to rain a lot while we are here, but at least I caught a striper already!
Hopefully I will have more to report on this thread over the next 4 days............

Check out Chris' FB page- McCotter's Lake Anna Guide Service
They have "toothache" spoons at Anna Point Marina tackle shop. Get the wider one....looks just like a threadfin shad.

Been dodging rain and fog all week. Got out this morning between the fog and then the rain......Got this punk on a topwater (spook). Have talked to several fishermen this week...........no one has caught more than 1/day......except for 2 of the guides, and they are not doing that much better than the rest of us.
Today's punk.............

those toothache spoons work great for white perch here too. the locals tell me that dike 3 is great before the sun rises....then it shuts off when it gets light.

Went down to Dike 3 in the boat before daylight one morning. The lake was down 2+ feet and the current going to Dike 3 was more than my trolling motor could handle. Had to be moving 5+ kts! Tried for about an hour there but no fish were there that morning.
As we left this morning, the lake was about back at full pool and all the rivers going to the lake were as muddy as could be. My boat is soaked through from all yesterday's rain, and may take a couple of weeks to dry it out properly.

Fishing has been terrible with the rain. I'm heading down and pulling my boat out this weekend and putting it on the trailer for the year. With the call for rain, it looks like it'll be a good redbox weekend! I'll pm you my number curly, I'm right there by dike 3 on the warm side. you can launch from there during the winter if you want to go winter fishing.

Hopefully this weekend's heavy rains will not flush them down the river..............

Other than a bump over 45' yesterday, the Potomac seems fishable this weekend.....but you will get wet.
