8-21-15, a tributary of the Potomac

Curly and I were originally going to go perch fishing but the windy forecast caused us to change plans....so we went snakie hunting!

What a great morning (weather). Felt like fall.

Things looked really fishy!

So we cast and cast and cast and made more cats. At one point, Curly said he made a bout 500 casts. All I know is that my hands hurt!

Finally, Curly takes the skunk off!

No joke...we go after snakies and catch a perch!

I don't know what the issue was. Curly used his trusted white mouse and I threw the book at them. I had 1 follow and Curly had two nips. That was it!

We called it a day around noon and slowly made our way out of the creek.

It's amazing that this boat can live on a creek that is 5-6' deep!

As we rode home, we were still shaking our heads. We fished an area where there is a big population of snakies. Not hearsay either.....

I've now taken 3 snakie/bass trips in the the last 25 days and have ZERO to show for it....except some great times out on the water.

Oh well....back at chasing perchies tomorrow!

Number 37 on that boat has meaning. It was the uniform number for Casey Stengel. Also 37 is a prime number hence it can not be deemed bad or good.
Those American lily's are tough to fish and often you spend a lot of time just trying to free your lure.
Snakeheads in spawn are one tough sportfish to catch. I am sure you guys worked the water perfect and you got your thousand casts in. Just give it two more days and they will respond.

BTW, Curly did see one that went right by the boat but could not make a cast to it. We thought we might see them doing their thing but they must have been under those big pads. Almost impossible to cats through those....

It was a great trip, but the fish would not cooperate.

As Charlie Brewer use to say "Sometimes, the fish have lockjaw".

At least y'all got out to fish instead of being stuck at work.
