Caught several dozen while it sprinkled.....
Many were orange belied, humpbacks that were worthy of a picture but....no phone or camera.
Several warmouths...one LMB of near a pound.
Biggest issue was the pesky snapping turtles that liked my yellow fly line.

Sounds like a lot of fun! I didn't know the AV lakes had warmouths. I haven't caught one of those here yet.

Looks like a BG but with a LMB mouth....yellow tipped wings. Might just be a mutant.

Ernie - you sure know how to slay those panfish with a fly rod!! Love how you float that line out to almost the fountain in the middle.

They were chomping again tonight....Betts black spider w/ white rubber legs. You can find them at Wally World. I cut 1/3 to 1/2 the legs off.
Fly lands on the water....wait 2-3 seconds for it to slowly sink out of sight, short strip....fish on!

I've been using Black Japanese Beetles, Black Ants, and small grasshopper patterns. Regarding the Warmouths.....yup, they are Warmouths....I've caught them in every lake in Ashburn...tend to hit harder and fight more like a LMB than a Bluegill and they are usually thicker than other Bream....word has it that they can get up to 2lbs....I'd like to catch a 2lbs Warmouth on my 4wt!!!!
Best regards,
Fishfry
