6-13-15, Out of Spa Creek

Today, we caught white perch.....life is normal now!

Bob Morgan and I met up around 0615 and we put in out of Truxtun park.

Of course, our 1st stop was the condos and a double took the skunk off!

Not big but our 1st shallow water perchies of the year!

As we motored out of the creek and e saw the usual nice boats while.....

....we devised our plan. We would hit the towers and then head into Weems Creek.

At the towers, we caught 1-2 fish on the last of the outgoing....sloooooow for sure.

But, plans changed when I saw how calm the bay was so we headed across to Kent Island to fish some new perch water.

We scored some nice fish while over there...not fast fishing but quality!

Bob had an 11 incher and many over 10"!

When the tide died, so did the catching. And we were cooked as it was hot with zero wind. We moved around a bit to create some wind and at one of our stops, I threw my spinner in between some pilings and was rewarded with a big hit from a 12 incher!

After that, we picked off a few more but there was no current so we decided to head back east before the seas got rough.

After outrunning a huge container ship, we made it back over to the Severn. There must have been 500 sailboats out today.....

Then we went on in to Weems Creek. The outside held nothing so we went in between the bridges. There, I caught a 6" striper.

We picked off some more nice eaters but neither of us brought a cooler and I didn't want to put them in the live well with the warm temps. After we were done, we were both glad we didn't have to clean them. We were wiped!

While in Weems, we both caught pickles but Bob's was nicer!

We didn't set any records for numbers today but most of the fish were quality. It was great to get that pullage on ultra lights again.....

Nice way to start the WP season!  12 inches is a good start.

Nice size on the perch!

Nice boat but would not want to feed it.

I say that whenever I see all of those big boats on spa.  There was a 120 footer that had his baby (30+ footer) tied up next to him. Triple motors too. Then, the rubber tender was tied to that, 115hp motor. Probably an 18 footer.
