Okay...so it is December and by all measures we're nearing the end of the 2014 fishing season...heck I even have to buy a new fishing license soon.
After moving back to Ashburn for the third time in 25yrs....I have been impressed by the maturity of the lakes and the fish production...even though the lakes seem to be heavily stressed during the summer (yes, I added to the stress).
Question I have is "What else lurks in the Ashburn Lakes?"
My list includes:
Carp (White Asian Carp, Koi fish, common carp)
Largemouth Bass
Channel Catfish
Crappie
Bluegill/Sunfish
Hybrid Bluegill (or at least they looked like Hybrids)
Variety of minnows
Frogs
Turtles
Snakes
Muskrats (yes, there was a pair in Cedar before they "shaved" the shoreline of vegetation.)
Beaver
Is that it or are there other species of fish?
Happy Holidays

Bullhead catfish.
Grass carp.
Those "otters" are muskrats! .....and more than one pair of them.

Oh, I thought "Grass Carp" and "White Asian Carp" were the same thing...my bad.
And I corrected my "Otters" to Muskrats....must be the cataracts that I need to have removed :-P

I have sent the Association heads several notices about the muskrats. They don't seem to care that they are there. They do tear up the shoreline. A couple of the board members are coming over to take a look next week.
Add yellow perch and white perch. Don't know if there are any still any that are still swimming around but I know for a fact that they were in there at some point.
And there was a smallie at Cedar before the big drain.
