Nov 30th Report

Fished today with Leon (Catman). Mat and Dan joined us. After yesterdays trip I was sure that the big slug of Ocean Run rockfish would be predictable in there feeding patterns. Not today it seemed.

His boat is a twin hull boat.

It is very different from the traditional boat as it does not tilt on turns and in the short chop at slow speeds it shutters as the wave slaps the crossbeam between the hulls. But the boat can handle really big seas at a good clip. Today we had honest 3 footers with long periods that the boat just ate up. Almost ocean like waves. However with this ability the birds never really showed us to the fish and when we did find them the swarm of charter boats was putting them down as they ran over the school. Still we managed four keeper fish and that was good.

Re: Nov 30th Report

Not a bad day!  My dad used to have a catamaran yacht/houseboat that we spent a lot of time on.  Those things are very stable indeed.  Many stories from Florida up the inland waterway to trips through the Chesapeake Bay.
