9-20-14, Severn River perchin'

Bob and I continue our quest to move up in the standings for the SRRKC Perch Tourney. Today, we vowed not to take any pictures of any perch that was less than 11"!

We stopped at the condos and we each took the skunk off. I was able to land a 10 incher on a 1/8oz Kastmaster with a shrimp fly replacing the treble hook. Good way to start!

We then went to the radio towers.....where we always catch some nice big ones. But not today. Oh, oh....we could be in trouble as this is a go to place!

We then tried a close by creek and scored a few but nothing to write home about.

Then we hit some other main river spots and picked off a few but nothing to get exited over.

Finally we went to where Woody used to catch some of his monsters. We worked the entire shoreline and got some nice perch to 10.75"....but NO pictures!

Except this one!

Bob did catch a nice yellow perch.....

We started working our way back and made a few casts in different places and caught a few fish including this pickerel!

There were tons of boats out today on the Severn. This one caught our eye!

Our last stop was going to be the condo but a yaker was there so we chased him off. Not really....he was leaving as we arrived.

We were hoping for a Hail Mary as we both needed a nice fish!

Bob  got another speck!

And that was it!

We put in at 7:30 and took out close to 4....long day of chasing perch! But we had a good time and gave it a great effort!

The quest continues....

It's always fun fishing with Ernie, and you never know what you might catch. Sometimes it's even what you're after. Can't wait for next time.

That's a nice variety of species in the Severn. I've only fished the pier there.

Together we'll fight the long defeat.
