Double boat trip tonight with a group from the eastern shore. The goal was to capture a wiley Potomac Pike and with the tides right and good cloud cover I was sure it was an easy goal. I had the younger crew so I was feeling confident. We get to the first spot to fish and these guys could cast and follow instruction. Going to be a great evening of fishing. Then the clouds parted and those dang blue skies with that high sun that normally shuts the bite down came out. They cast all evening long with only a break here or there. The Potomac Pike hit and followed many times. Till I found some long shadows and bingo fish in the boat. 8 good hits and 1 fish landed for the evening. 3 times the toad came back cut in half. We had another 4 follows right up to the boat too. Very impressed with my crew tonight.

The names were certainly easy to remember on this double boat trip. Rick, Rick, Rick and Frank. I had the older fellas and Mike had the younger dudes. It sprinkled rain on the way to the ramp and it rained while we waited for customers. We ate chicken and ribs under the pavilion because of rain. We launched with dark skies overhead. As we motored to first pad field, the skies cleared up and the sun came out and....fishing was tough yet again. We did get a snakehead, that's always a plus. Not one bass. Golden hour came and went and nada. Another great crew that makes a tough trip tolerable.
