Looking for fishing partner : Front Royal, or Potomac

Two of my best fishing partners recently moved . One is on Lake Anna but I was looking for someone interested in the Potomac or Front Royal.  My Ranger is coming along pretty good I picked up a HDS9 Touch this season and the PP during the winter. Typically I do like to head out early Saturday or Sunday mornings. Send me a PM if you are interested , we can always meet up at a local pond if we haven't meet already before you are stuck on a boat for 8 hours with me.

Nice ride Andy!

Where are you going to fish that in Front Royal?

BTW, for those that don't know Andy....he can fish!

Wish I had the time.  Just got my boat out for the first time on Friday.  Could be a good TX tag team?

Very cool, I will get back to you guys about a week in advance. Working local now, but was traveling a bunch with my last contract.  May hit Front Royal on the morning of the 4th.

Two boat's  out is the best way to go Curly. We should set up a time to get both out,

One thing if the fishing is slow, the Ranger is pretty fast. Hit 67mph on Lake Anna smile

You would just leave me in your wake tongue .  My top end is less than half that at 28 MPH lol

Andy,

I would be game sometime.  I live in Sterling and have fished both of those areas.  Not sure about the 4th as I just got back from a trip.  I like early morning trips.  Nice boat, BTW.

Thanks for the props, it was so much work . I could use help on both rivers since I am very new to them. I had the boat in Ashburn on the weekend to do some trailer work.

FYI, Jeff I will get you on my boat. I still have a bunch to learn but thats what fishing is all about.

My first deep structure bass , hit the 5lb in 20ft on a Carolina rig . HDS9 structure scan is so cool.

Dude, you're gonna rip that boat apart if you put in at front royal.  You really need a jet.

Careful on the mac too unless you're in deep water.

Re: Looking for fishing partner : Front Royal, or Potomac

True that on extra caution on Front Royal!  I have been on it several times and if the water is low at the bridge it's not worth fishing. I am limited to just a straight shot to the spillway , so the Jet boat guys have a lot more water to fish then I can on a fiberglass boat. However its good small mouth fishing so it’s hard to ignore.

Potomac is the real deal so watching out for hazards and the potential for some rough water is always on the mental radar. Just about every body of water can get you in trouble fast. One reason I picked up the HDS9, the maps are very helpful to avoid problems. Even Lake Anna can get you killed fast if you’re balling around down lake.

Jeff, I have "evolved" a bit and have to use bait caster gear to structure fish. Think I have four rods and reels already. Just use the egg beaters for the finesse stuff. Crazy if I look at what I tossed at bass six years ago compared to now, night and day.

I will get back to the people that mailed me a week in advance to sync up for the fishing on a weekend. I filled the other seat this weekend but pretty sure I will have a spot for the 12th or 13th.

I am being proactive since I know I will be out every weekend in the fall smile

It's worth fishing, but not in your boat.  Kayak or canoe.  I know the Doah & Upper Potomac very well through floating.  I don't even take my jon out much anymore because of all the 'surprises' on the river.

There's some spot on the lower Potomac & above Dam 4 that'll do well in your boat.  Also, there's a deep are in WV on the Main stem of the Doah that's good - resevoir type waters.

I see a guy on the Doah with a RiverPro that know's what he's doing, but even he bangs rocks on occation.

Have to rely on your expertise for flat water, like Anna.  Not my thing, but enjoy.

Never would fish from either Kayak or canoe. Kinda boring IMO.

To each his own...correct .

Re: Looking for fishing partner : Front Royal, or Potomac

I got a sense of humor ...

Just saying a kayak's not boring.

And you're boat would be toast if you run it on the doah around Ft Royal.

You come to the board, ask a questions get an honest answer then start bust'n balls.

Now that's funny.

Front Royal is one of the places I've been considering launching my kayak for my next trip.  That may end up being Friday.
