Sad day for baseball fans.....

.....Tony Gwynn passed away at 54 years old. Cancer got him.

That guy could hit like very few before him. Complete ballplayer and a great person as well.

RIP

Probably the best pure hitter of my generation. Maybe one of the top 10 greatest hitters of all time. Certainly in the top 20. I'd put him right up there with some of the greats - Clemente, Rose, DiMaggio. Class act guy too. He will be missed my many.

The amazing thing is that he stole a lot of bases as well. Went over 20 five times with a high of 56 when he hit .370 and had an OBP of .447.
