Longwood University Fishing Club Tournament- March 22

Longwood University Fishing Club Tournament

Where: Sandy River Reservoir

When: March 22, 2014

This tournament is hosted by Longwood University’s Fishing Club. The purpose for the tournament is to raise money for Relay For Life and ultimately The American Cancer Society. Half of the money that is raised by the tournament will be donated to the Relay for Life at Longwood University and the other half of the profits will be given as prizes for the tournament winners.

The tournament will be taking place at Sandy River Reservoir on March 22, 2014. Check-in registration will begin at 5:00 a.m. The tournament will begin at 6:30 a.m. (safe light) and the weigh-in will be at 2 p.m.

• $50 per boat registered (2 people max per boat)
• $10 optional Big Bass pot

Prizes, based on 20 boat field

1st Place: $250.00
2nd Place: $150.00
3rd Place: $100.00

Biggest Bass: 100% of Big Bass pot money

Rules and Regulations:

1. Check-in and registration starts at 5:00 a.m. at the boat ramp.

2. All lake regulations and rules apply, these can be seen at: http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/wa … asp?id=114
a. Largemouth bass: slot of 14-20 inch length, only 2 greater than 20 inches per person
b. Gasoline motors limited to below 10 horse power.

3. Only 5 fish will be weighed in per boat.

4. Artificial baits only, NO live bait.

5. A late boat will be penalized 1lb per minute after 2:00 p.m., and at 2:05 p.m. the boat will be disqualified.

Thanks for posting! Much appreciated. We would love to see as many boats out on the lake as we can that day. Its for a great cause, and we at the fishing club look forward to doing our part in the schools Relay For Life efforts. I fished Sandy today with a buddy of mine. It was 35 and windy, we were limited to spinning gear and jerkbaits etc. Earlier this morning we caught 3 at Twin Lakes state park, and last week I caught a nice hawg down at Wilcks lake right next to farmville. Looks like the fishing is picking up down here finally. Good stuff.
