Potomac Rockfish Report 10-6-13

Fished with Kevin on his boat.  He posted the report on another board.  Here is a copy and paste.........

Me and Curly decided to hit the river on Sunday morning and it sure was a beautiful weather day to say the least. The last time me and Curly fished was over a year ago and we pulled out the old Skunkeroo, so this time our goal was to improve on that and land a fish! We met at Hope Springs 06:00AM sharp and had the boat loaded and launched by 6:15, we were hoping to beat the Green Fish tournament guys out on the water by getting an early start. We started the run out of Aquia Creek as the sun was just starting to come, it was the most beautiful morning I can remember.

Once out of Aquia we were the only boat on the main river and it was flat as can be, it was a great ride minus the mine field of crab pots in low light. We made the run south and started fishing in an area that has been very productive this summer.I had high hopes and i'm sure Curly did too, but it stared slow and stayed slow the whole time we fished. The tide was wrong and the water was muddy making fishing very difficult in this area, Curly's determination did not waver and we continued to pluck away and try different techniques. We wound up landing four Rock between 17.5 and 27 1/2" in about three hours of fishing and had a few more solid hits that didn't stay buttoned. Curly landed the 27 and 25 on ultralight and it sure looked like he was enjoying it, the 25" was fat beautiful and healthy so in the cooler he went. The 27 was quite the different story which was very disappointing considering that is a very nice size fish for the middle river in early October. The Myco was so bad on this fish he looked to be rotting away, super skinny and lots of nasty sores. Curly was not scared and still held him up for a couple pictures- Curly your face is priceless!

Even though we didn't set the River on fire we still had a great day and accomplished the goal of knocking off the Skunky! I had a great time Curly and hopefully we can do it again soon and don't try and pm Curly about where we were fishing I hired a PI to follow him around.

Nice but I sure hope you went to the doc and got some antibiotics! That 27 incher is one nasty fish!
