Fishing over the last few weeks has been TOUGH. Never have I looked less forward to a charter. Planned on going finesse, I hate finesse. Michael and his dad Keith were forty five minutes early and ready to go. They ate chicken and ribs while I finished getting the boat ready. Keith resides in Charlotte , NC. He said that the ribs were right up there with the best from barbecue country. We were getting ready to fish and the wind blew us into the pads and spooked two big potomac pike. What? Life in the pads? Potomac Pike? Tie back on the horny toads Lucy... We went back into a special high tide only area. Potomac Pike submarine our lures in the first ten casts. I knew we were in for something better than the last few weeks. Over the next four hours (man are my push pole muscles sore) We had many strikes from largemouth and potomac pike. We know they are there. We saw them. We had quite a few submarines and hits. Keith saw the submarine and the fish open its mouth and he pulled the trigger too quick and pulled it right out of it's mouth. Keith caught the first six fish and then Michael got on the board with a nice six pounder. That's a nice way to get you first fish of the day. We had many an opportunity for potomac pike and that was promising coming down the back stretch to the end of the season. Two great guys that Michael and Keith. I'm learning that there is something special about taking out fathers and sons. God showed us some beautiful sky at sundown.
