Goose Creek 9/7

I finally got around to fishing the stretch of Goose Creek from Beaverdam reservoir to the Goose Creek reservoir.  I got a late start because my alarm didn't go off. It took about 20 minutes to paddle from Reservoir Rd to the dam.  Another 5 min or to get down to the creek.  I was in the creek a little after 8am.  A few casts of a bitsy minnow before putting on a spook jr.  First cast of the spook got this smallie.

A few bends later I found a spot holding some fish.

Started paddling some more while trolling and got this fall fish.  Also saw an orange koi swimming around in the same area.

Finally I caught up with the eagle that would fly off ever time I closed in on it.  There looked like an eagle nest on top of one of the power line towers.

Greenway bridge.  There was no action around the Murrays Ford and Sycolin Rd bridges.  Did see some sunnies and carp on the way back though.

Once below the Greenway I started catching largemouths.  A total of four.  The last one was next to a log jam by the dam.

On the way back I didn't start catching fish again til well past Sycolin Rd, several small smallies.

Lotsa good memories.

Cut my teeth fishing that creek - havent been back for a while.

We use to drop yaks in at the dam & float down to Broad Run & take out.

Is Resevoir Rd open again?

resevoir road goes all the way back to beaverdam reservoir.  I dont know if its "open again", by that i mean, at the reservoir, there is a road that runs parallel the reservoir, that is closed.  but you can definitely get to the reservoir without any problems.

Great report T.   So, after the portage and down and back paddling, was it worth it?  Would you do it again?  I keep talking about doing that stretch and never make it happen.

Once was enough.  Fishing wasn't what I hoped.  Might've been better if there was more flow.  The smallies were all higher up the creek near Beaverdam.  Flow would've been even less if water wasn't being released from Beaverdam reservoir.  I thought Goose Creek reservoir would've been much deeper.

Re: Goose Creek 9/7

Thats what it sounded like from your report.  Tyler has been fishing some other locations on Goose Creek and having very good results.  I think I will give up on my goal of doing that stretch and stick with the other spots.
