Potomac Bass and Snakehead (almost)

I took my son out in search of bass and snakeheads in some of the back creeks. The fishing started off slow with the sun high and the tide just about half way in. We had a few scattered blow ups but no hookups. As the sun began to dip behind the trees we started to get more consistent bites. Ian scored first with this nice bass-

We had several snakeheads spook and chase baits but couldn't get any to bite. We then made our way to a spot where I've seen several snakeheads in the past. I had a hit on the frog and got it back with one of it's legs missing. I called Ian over and on his second cast he hooked and the fish and it went nuts. It jumped 3 times including a long porpoise jump that got it a head of steam into the weeds and it came off. Ian was hooked from that minute on and is now on a mission to catch a NSH.

His persistence paid off with the bass too. We had several hits in one area and he stuck with it after I had moved on. A few minutes later he called me over. He coaxed this nice fish to eat-

In the end we each caught a few fish, had a bunch of other hits and had an amazing time on the water.

Here's one of my fish-

Great job Ian, you were right at home out there. Thanks for the kayak Ernie, we couldn't have done it without you. I have a feeling I'll have to buy a 2nd one for him now. ;-)
