Measure measure again and photo really good with ruler and scales.
Release alive and well. The days of thumping your chest and skin mounts are over..

When I was young they had those cool patches that I would sew onto my fishing vest. In those days we killed and chilled the fish for that patch. Not too many tackle shops left now, so the whole concept kinda matured with this fisherman. The piece of paper and the single line in a state record listing is something I could care less about.

But if you want that record try to prepare ahead of time with a huge tub and airator and anything else to keep that fish alive and well. Make the call to DNR and based on that information always consider the fish first.

BTW those LGMouth that we killed and chilled for the patch never tasted that good.. kinda sour like grapes..
