My First Pickerel - Jan 5, 2013

My friend invited me to his pickerel spots in Severn River, MD. It was my first pickerel fishing.
I tested some soft lures in addition to live minnow.

I used an ultra light tackles (4'6" ultra light rod) and 6# test mono. I used 2 foot 20# test fluorocarbon leader.

I only used 1/16oz jig in the shallow water (2-6')

Live minnow works well, no doubt! I learned that bright colors work for pickerel. The scented 2-3 inch skinny bright swim bait and grub (curly tail) worked fairly well. They can be good alternative for live minnow.  I put the details of my lures on the video since the video is my fishing log.

I will be researching pickerel fishing opportunity in the Nothern VA water
