An absolutely spectacular day to be on the water! What a sunrise....
I met John Nguyen at 0645 at Pohick for a day of striper fishing out on Hallowing Point. I had reports of lots of bait, some fish slurping on top and tons of marks[plus some striper catching up to 28". The reports were true but our results were nil.
We marked fish, we saw fish popping' around but never got a hit.
Comment and question for Capt. Mike- I saw gar coming out of the water much like a dolphin does when the are running. Snout out 1st, then body and back in the water. It was spectacular and there were many. What are they doing? Spawning?
Anyway, after a few hours of looking and casting, I decided to hit a familiar haunt. Somehow, we needed to take the skunk off.
We did, a spinner bait did the trick!
But we only had a couple more possible hits so we went back to where we started. Now we see some birds kinda working. We went shallow and found the point to be very inviting....shallow water and then some nice drop offs....will explore more in the future.
So we did not get skunked, we had a very relaxing time out there and we called the day a success.
Now, on to the Nats game in DC!!

I'm beginning to think that you go fishing more frequently than I do.
