Goose Creek

I got out with the fly rod on goose creek for a few hours yesterday. That wasn't the best of plans since the leaves are starting to fall and there are quite a few in the water. Didn't have any luck with poppers, I'm guessing too many leaves, acorns, walnuts and hickory nuts falling in right now. Switched over to the one wooly booger I had and it got snagged after a few casts and broke off. For some reason I had a small rooster tail in my fly box and threw that for a while. Manged to pick up a hand full of pumpkin seeds, a rock bass, and one fall fish. No bass.

Re: Goose Creek

I haven't been to that Creek before.  Where is the best place to park and launch from?

Re: Goose Creek

Dam's easy to portage on river right.  Be alert though, you miss the dam and it's 18' down into shallow water, a nice hydrolic, & rocks.

If you wanna float from the 15, then do it in spring w/ the water's up.

Green fish run up to 8#, but they dont count.

Nova,  do you think theres any chance of canoeing/kayaking if we launch from under the 15 bridge?  my bro said it only looks to be a few inches in a few spots.

I never have, but I did have a group of kids in kayaks float past me one day when I was wading out there. They said they put in from private land.  It would pretty tough to do from RT 15. if you did get in there, you would have to carry in a few spots as you head towards evergreen mills depending on the draft of your kayak and canoe. Like your bro said, it is ankle deep at best in spots.

Re: Goose Creek

Has anyone fished from Sycolin down to the reservoir?

I've thought about carting my kayak from the Reservoir Rd side of Beaverdam and launching it into the creek near the reservoir dam and coming back the same way.

Smallie hunters like George call SMB either bronzebacks or brown fish.
