Upper James River Report - 09/03/12

Got out on Labor Day and fished the river with a coworker. Targeted smallies but the bite was really slow for me no matter what I threw. My coworker threw a 2in white grub and caught numbers of smallies, bluegill, a catfish, and a carp. He topped it all off with a 17in smallie.

Though my bites were few and far between, I managed two fish. A nice 13in smallie and a surprise 3lb 7oz largemouth. Pics to follow, but the lmb was still snacking when he took my jig.

Healthy smallie

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!
