5-13-12. Cedar top water bite is on!

The BGs were feisty today...

Using a 4 wt fly rod with a popper (made by Osprey's dad many years ago), I landed 20+ gills in less than an hour. Many of them missed their mark, they seemed out of practice (or maybe it was me). Once they hit, I needed to strip strike quickly to land them. They looked good. Some were still dark from the deep.

More fun cannot be had.

Every one of them was eating size!!


Time to go fishin' again!

Thanks Ernie, that would make him happy. I would guess he made them in 1966 when I went off to boot camp. Hard to believe, but he was probably the only one on the planet more inept with a fly rod than me.

Bob, the BGs chewed off some of the rubber legs but the fly was still catching....I will use it until all the material is gone.

BGs are everywhere...try the north side of the dam just where the fence makes a turn....they are 5-6' out.
